evaluation please click here which will bring you to
our contact page.. We do evaluations all year long, however;
evaluations that are being done over the summer are for the fall

priority over non-residents.
ANYONE INTERESTED
IN THE FALL SEASON NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED OVER THE SUMMER, EVEN IF
THEY DID ONE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. Waiting lists start
over each summer. While some squads have openings, most have
waiting lists.
The competitive squads (TYPHOON, GREEN Crest) commit to the team
for the entire school year (Sept-June), with a summer option.
The competitive squads (BLUE Crest, GREEN Tide, BLUE Tide
& RIP Tide) commit for the entire year, summer included
(Sept-Aug). TIDAL Wave commits by session (two sessions, 1st
is Sept-Feb, 2nd is Mar-June). The developmental squads
(GREEN/BLUE Breakers, GREEN/BLUE Surfers) commit by
session (Fall: Sept-Nov, Winter: Dec-Feb, Spring: Mar-May).
There is registration before every session for these squads, with
current members having priority to sign up.
NEW
SWIMMER INFORMATION PACKET
When and where are new swimmer
evaluations?
All new swimmers to BWST need to
have an evaluation done before they can join the
team.
What to wear?
Swimmers must come to the evaluation
session ready to swim. This includes:
- Proper swim
training suits. Baggy shorts or "beach wear" are not acceptable.
Call or email if you are unsure what this means.
- Goggles
- A swim cap if
the child needs one.
Why does my swimmer need to be
evaluated?
Before any new swimmers can join the BLUE WAVE they will need to be
evaluated. The evaluation (water test) is used by the coaches to
determine the ability level of the applicant and which training
squad they would be best suited for.
What to expect?
Evaluations will determine if the
child is ready for an organized swim team, and at what level
(developmental or competitive). Swimmers will be asked to swim a
lap (or a few laps) or each stroke they know how to do.
Evaluations do not take more than 15 minutes, and the coach doing
the evaluation will speak with you when it's over about ability,
readyness, placement, waitlists, etc. Please download
and print the Try Out form and bring it with you to the
evaluation.
Why should my child
swim?
There are many
benefits to getting your child involved in competitive swimming,
including:
- Swimming
promotes physical development.
- Swimming
develops aerobic endurance and is one of the most beneficial forms
of cardiovascular exercise.
- Swimming
enhances a child’s natural flexibility and promotes muscle
development.
- Swimming
develops superior coordination.
- Swimming
is the most injury-free of all children’s
sports.
- Swimming
is a sport that will bring children fitness and enjoyment for
life.
- Swimming
promotes time management and is one of the top academically
achieving sports.
Please contact
Coach Mike about getting a registration form. These forms need to
be returned to BWST once they are filled out.
